TOWN - N - GOWN
Purpose Statement
Town-N-Gown is an independent, informal association of men and women dedicated to developing a mutual understanding between Old Dominion University and the various civilian and military communities of Greater Hampton Roads.
Membership is open to all, and dues are $25 (single or double, same address) per year. Town-N-Gown provides an opportunity for area citizens and military neighbors to join the academic community for many diverse activities.
The organization is composed of townspeople (TOWN), military personnel (“N” for national defense forces), and university personnel (GOWN). Town-N-Gown, by presenting programs and organizing joint activities, offers its members the opportunity to increase their awareness of and appreciation for the total community with its many assets.
Upcoming Events / Dates to Remember
Sept 2 (Tue) TNG Board Meeting @ 9:30am in Webb Center
Sept 5 (Fri) First Friday Bad Movie Night @ Lê Planetarium. Doors open
at 6:30pm, show starts 7pm | $4 admission.
Sept 6 (Sat) TNG Tailgate 4 to 6 PM at Kaufman Mall
Sept 14 (Sun) TNG Welcome Reception 2 - 4 PM at Sailing Center, Free to
members. $10 for Guests (which can go towards a membership!)
Sept 20-21 NAS Oceana Air Show - Gates open 8AM, Performances
between 10AM and 3PM. The Blue Angels are to perform!
TNG members will have discounted tickets with Front Row Seating!
Sept 29 (Mon) Waldo Series free lecture at 7 PM in Webb Center -
North Cafe on International Relations with speaker Admiral Paparo.
"Joint Force Strategy in the Indo-Pacific - Peace through strength"
Oct 4 (Sat) Oktoberfest @5728 Bartee St, Norfolk 4 - 9pm with
authentic German Beer, Live music and Kid's Korner.
Oct 7 (Tue) TNG Board Meeting @ 9:30am in Webb Center with
guest speaker TBA @ 11:00am
Oct 11 (Sat) Fleet Festival with TNG members invited to Captains' Tent.
Music, Auto show, Chili cook-off, Ship tours along with kids jungle gym
and lots more all beginning @ 10am.
Oct 20 (Mon) Presidents' Reception by Invitation only, TNG members RSVP

Town-N-Gown members are always welcome at the board meetings as well as attending any associated scheduled tours. We will normally invite ODU professionals to make a presentation just after the scheduled monthly
board meeting. Plan to be there at 11:00am to hear the speaker.
